NDC flag bearer John Dramani Mahama has once again lowered the standards in Ghana’s political space by hurling insults at the President and the NPP government.
At a political rally in Ashaiman earlier this week, the former President stunned supporters of his own party when he described the current government led by President Nana Akufo-Addo as “very foolish”.
Speaking in a twi dialect, Mr Mahama claimed that the Akufo-Addo government has resorted to the use of propaganda to project it’s achievements.
“All they do is propaganda. We have achieved every promise they gave. We are the best government not even Nkrumah can match up to us, this foolish government (aban f)n wei)”, the ex-President shockingly stated.
His recents come at a time when various Civil Society Organizations, the Peace Council, Religious and Traditional leaders have called on political leaders to be civil and decorous in their language ahead of the December elections.
For a man who was once described as a true gentleman and a fine communicator, the ex- President has lowered the standards of a statesman and has shown clear desperation for political power.
His latest outburst gives credence to Madam Elizabeth Ohene’s recent article in which she described the former President as having a penchant for hurling abusive words at his opponents.
This was after John Mahama’s use of the term ‘Akyem Mafia and Sakawa Boys’ in reference to the President and his kinsmen from the Eastern region.
