President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo has terminated the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority, with immediate effect.
This decision was taken after the submission of a report by the Commissioner of Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to the President.
The report found that, MR Agyengo Boateng Adjei had put himself in a position where his personal interest conflicted with the performance of his functions as CEO and Board member of the PPA.
It will be recalled that on 22 August,2019, President Akufo-Addo suspended Mr. Agyenim Boateng Adjei from office after the broadcast of allegations made against him in an investigative documentary conducted by Manasseh Azure Awuni titled “Contracts for sale”.
H.E The President also referred the allegations involving conflict of interest to CHRAJ and those relating to potential acts of corruption to the Office of the Special Prosecutor, for their action.
Having satisfied himself of that the facts of the recommendations made by CHRAJ, are properly motivated and well-founded, the President took a decision to terminate Mr Agyenim Adjei’s appointment.
The President has also expressed his gratitude to Mr. Joseph Whittal and CHRAJ for the thorough and methodical manner in which the matter was addressed.
