Former First Lady Lordina Mahama has suddenly resurfaced to join her husband’s campaign, days after the NDC flagbearer said she had decided to take a back role in politics.
Mrs Mahama has been conspicuously missing in her husband’s 2020 campaign unlike 2012 and 2016 where she mounted platforms and combed the country in support of his candidacy.
However in a recent interview on Asempa FM, Mr Mahama disclosed that the former first lady has decided to focus on her foundation so that her husband can also focus on his politics.
It appears the Ex-President’s campaign is not going as planned and that has warranted the sudden decision to rope in the Mrs Mahama.
There have been concerns about the lack of visibility of the NDC running mate Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang’s and her uninspiring campaign.
According to deep throat sources, the party is also unhappy with how the party’s campaign has been run in Bono East and the Brong Ahafo region.
Reports suggest that the NDC flag bearer is unhappy with the party’s General Secretary who is said to have hi-jacked campaign funds in both regions and rendered the Regional campaign team useless.
Perhaps Mrs Mahama has been re-called to coordinate the party’s campaign in her home regions and supervise the use of campaign funds.
Also, her presence at campaign grounds is expected to give a better alternative to the uninspiring running mate who many within the party have described as a liability.
