Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress John Dramani Mahama has abandoned his campaign and has arrived in Nigeria to solicit for cash.
The Ex-President suddenly cut short his Western Regional tour and left the country on Saturday morning in the company of some of his close confidants on board an Africa World Airline flight.
Mr Mahama’s delegation which include Awuah-Darko Kingsley Kwame, Braimah Saaka Mahama, James Gbolo and Awoonor Afetsi Besa are expected to meet some rich Governors in the oil-rich country to “beg” for campaign funds.
The delegation checked in at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja immediately they landed in Nigeria and are expected to hold some meetings on Saturday evening.
According to sources, Mr Mahama will be meeting some businessmen in Nigeria and will bait them with the promise of offering them juicy contracts should Ghanaians give him the mandate.
This would be the second time in a month that former President Mahama has jetted off to Nigeria in search of cash to aid his flagging campaign.
His first attempt in Nigeria proved futile, the reason he is in the country again.
He is also said to have booked appointments with some wealthy governors to solicit money to fund his failing re-election bid.
All does not seem well with the NDC’s campaign as Mahama’s running mate, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang is doing little to help the ticket.
Aside her inability to woo support for the flagbearer, the ex university vice chancellor had little or no means of pulling financial resources to support the campaign.
John Mahama and his delegation are also expected to fly off to Niger again in search of more cash
