Mahama refuses to lay wreath at Rawlings’ funeral


In a shocking turn of events, Former President John Mahama, leader of the National Democratic Congress refused to lay a wreath at the State Burial service for late Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings.

Former President Mahama who is also the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a party founded by the late JJ Rawlings, was expected to join the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo –Addo, the family and other dignitaries to lay wreaths at the funeral service.

Mr. Mahama who was present at the funeral however refused to lay a wreath at the funeral as the leader of the NDC with Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu rather stepping in to honor the founder of their political tradition.

The conduct of Mr Mahama has received criticisms from across the political divide with many describing his conduct as unstatesmanlike and impolite conduct by the former President.

In a viral video, that surfaced immediately after his death, an unidentified woman  accused John Mahama as being the one behind the death of former President and founder of NDC, Jerry John Rawlings.

She alleged that it was Mahama who killed former president John Evans Attah-Mills ahead of the 2016 Elections had repeated the same thing on Rawlings weeks to the 2020 December elections.

“John Mahama was the one who killed him. He killed him for power. Mahama has done it again. He has killed Rawlings“, she was heard screaming in the viral video.
