Running Mate of the National Democratic Congress, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang’s West Regional tour has turning out to be a huge disappointment as she fails to draw public attention in the region.
The NDC announced earlier this week that its running mate would embark on a four-day campaign tour of the Western Region where she’s expected to meet traditional authorities and interact with a broad range of stakeholders from all walks of life in the region.
Perhaps her interaction with the masses may not be hitting the desired expectations as her convoy was met in the Axim Evalue- Gwira constituency with an almost empty street with the few people around walking unmoved by her presence.
Meanwhile, Vice president Mahamadu Bawumia was given a rousing welcome when he arrived in the Western Region on Tuesday for the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the Region’s first ever interchange.
Here’s a video of the NDC running mate’s arrival in the Axim Evalue- Gwira constituency:
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, the Chief of Takoradi Osahene Katakyie Busumakura III stated that the Western Region had become a major beneficiary of infrastructural projects over the past few years under the NPP administration.
“I am here to congratulate and commend the President of Ghana, who is represented here by his Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia”.
“I sit here as the Chief of this City and I have the responsibility to support the government of the day. I can say without fear that four years ago, I congratulated the NDC for opening a cold store. I was invited as a Special Guest. Why do you think I should not congratulate the President of Ghana for bringing the first interchange to the Western region?”, he emphasized.
The NPP currently has 13 seats out of 17 constituencies in the Western region while the opposition NDC has 4 seats.
