Parliamentary Candidates threaten to resign as NDC neglects Eastern Regional Branch

With about 70 days to the December 7 Elections, some Parliamentary candidates of the National Democratic Congress in the Eastern Region are allegedly threatening to step down.

According to Samuel Huntor, host of Radio Gold’s Political show Pampaso , the NDC’s party structures in the Eastern region have totally broken down under the chairmanship of John Amankrah. .

In a online programme hosted on Facebook, the Host emphatically stated that the NDC is heading for a massive defeat in the Eastern region due to the negligence of the Party’s National leadership.

Speaking on the NDC-biased platform, he stated that the party’s campaign is overly concentrated on the flagbearer and to some extent the running to the neglect of the Parliamentary candidates especially in the Eastern Region.

“Parliamentary candidates are being chased out of their constituencies over unpaid allowances to polling agents after the Voter’s Registration Exercise. Some of the candidates are so frustrated to the extent of threatening to resign”.

“The Voter’s Registration exercise ended in August so what is stopping the party from paying its polling agents”, he asked on the online show on Monday September 28.

Mr. Huntor further stated that the treatment being meted out to the party’s supporters in the region and lack of proper structures in the region could heavily affect its fortunes come December 7.

“NDC should be careful about how they are treating the region especially because it is a region that is a stronghold of the NPP”.

“Go and check, nothing is going on in all the 33 constituencies in the Eastern”

“There is no leadership in Eastern region NDC yet there are well known members of the party’s leadership who are from the eastern region”.

“The party’s structures have broken down in the region and clearly the NDC is joking”, he added.

It will be recalled that earlier this year, the Eastern Regional Secretariat of the ruling New Patriotic (NPP) challenged the NDC to show them their parliamentary candidates who will be contesting with the ruling party in the upcoming general elections.

NPP Regional Secretary, Jeff Konadu, who was outdooring the parliamentary candidates of the party after their successful primaries expressed worry about how the NDC has still not elected their parliamentary candidates in the region.
