An opinion poll conducted for the National Democratic Congress has predicted victory for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in the upcoming General Elections.
The survey which was conducted by former NDC parliamentary aspirant Dr. Michael Kpessa Whyte, Dr Abu Mumuni with Kafui Tsekpo under the auspices of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung revealed that the NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo would emerge as winner of the 2020 December elections.
The research which was conducted between September – November revealed that Ghanaians are most likely to vote for the NPP should elections be held around that period.
According to the research, Ghanaians are more confident in their assessment of the NPP than the NDC with the support base of the Nana Add and the NPP being mostly the youth and adults between 40-59.
When asked who amongst the major political parties respondents trust to address or help Ghanaians with job opportunities, the NPP came up on top by a wide margin.
Same was the case when respondents were asked who they trust most to have a true and meaningful fight against poverty.
The NDC’s own research also appears to have given the NPP’s Free SHS policy a massive endorsement with respondents suggesting that they trust the NPP most to make education more affordable for Ghanaians.
Respondents also agreed that they trust the Akufo-Addo led administration to make healthcare more affordable for Ghanaians and bring water to their homes.
On reliable power supply, the NPP came up on top again with over 90.6% and also got the nod to be the most trusted to introduce policies that would support petty traders and local market women.
A direct comparison between Nana Akufo Addo and John Mahama also went in favour of the NPP as majority of the respondents agreed that the current President has demonstrated true commitment to the development of Ghana.
Ultimately, respondents also suggested that President Nana Akufo-Addo is truly committed to a bigger and better vision of national development for Ghana.
Ahead of the polls on Monday, the polls suggested that that Ghanaians believe that given their records and performance in government, Nana Akufo-Addo is the best choice for Ghana;s presidency in the 2020 elections.
The Researchers who were commissioned by the NDC in their concluding notes to the party suggested that the NDC is losing grounds in the Central, Upper West, Greater Accra, Bono East regions with the NPP making serious gains in those regions.
Several other polls have predicted victory for the President Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP on December 7 though NDC flagbearer John Mahama still insisting that he could win the elections.
