University of Ghana Opinion polls predicts NPP victory on December 7


President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is highly favoured to win the 2020 Elections, according to an opinion poll conducted by the Department of Political Science, University of Ghana, Legon.

According to an analysis of the Pre-2020 General Elections Survey which sampled respondents made of some registered Ghanaian voters, President Akufo-Addo is all set for a one-touch victory in the coming elections.

Answering a question on Which Presidential candidate they would vote for in the general elections, 51.7% of the respondents opted for NPP’s Nana Akuffo Addo while 40.4% said they are likely to vote for the NDC.

The polls gave President Akufo-Addo an 11.3% point gap between him and his main opponent with with GUM’s Christian Kwabena Andrews coming third with 1.4% of votes while other candidates failed to pull up to 1% of the polls

When probed further on how sure they are about voting for the candidate of their choice, 80.9% said they were very sure of voting while 11.9% said they were somewhat sure with 5% saying theywerent sure.

Also, 5594 out of the 11949 respondents said they would vote for an NPP Parliamentary candidate while 4934 said they may choose an NDC candidate.

The survey covered other areas of the economy including COVID-19 management, Manifestos of the two leading parties and policy assessment.

The NPP scored high in all categories that were used for the survey, according to the results.
